Officially, Stoner name immortalized in curve 3 Phillip Island
Double world champion MotoGP, Casey Stoner, who retired this season, officially got the award from the world of motor racing Australia. Repsol Honda rider name is enshrined in Turns 3 Phillip Island Circuit, which will host the Australian Grand Prix this weekend.
27-year-old rider was asked to choose which parts of the circuit are favored to be named. World champion in 2007 and 2011 is also chose to turn to the left that can be lauched with a speed of 155 miles per hour, to be named Stoner Bend.
"Turns 3 may be one of my favorite in the world," Stoner said during the inauguration, Thursday (10/25/2012). "I almost slept with five teeth along the curve and fast enough and certainly makes your blood rushing.
"It always gives me a wonderful feeling there, so turn it into my name at Phillip Island is something special. This is a huge honor."
Thus, Stoner was joined by two other motor racing legends from Australia, namely Wayne Gardner and Mick Doohan. Both riders that already have a name in the circuit, in honor of their achievements in the arena of grand prix.
This weekend, Stoner mission to reach six wins are lucky at Phillip Island. He has always been king in his home circuit since 2007, where for the first time a world champion with Ducati.
However, Stoner job this weekend must have been hard, given that conditions are not 100 percent fit right ankle injury that happened during qualifying Indianapolis GP - an injury that forced Stoner out for three series, while ensuring he could not defend his world title. Therefore, Stoner admitted that it was difficult for him to win in his last appearance in public alone.
